Students of all ages gathered at the International Academy of Martial Arts to participate in tests that would determine if they would move ahead in the school by achieving RANK. The following students were successful in obtaining the rank of Black Belt.

The tests were conducted with strict guidelines and each student performed the techniques required with skill and fortitude. Hashi Dan Sawyer and Sensei Milt Davenport judged each test. “We were very proud of the skills exhibited by each of the students and they can be proud in knowing that the rank was not given to them but that they earned it”, said Hanshi Sawyer.
New Instructor
SENSEI DAVENPORT JOINS IAMA STAFF
A new teacher has joined IMMA. His name is Milt Davenport. He is a Fourth Dan in Kyokushinkai Karatedo and is certified to teach Japanese sword. He instituted and taught the first college accredited Karate class in the state of Florida and brings a lot of experience and teaching skills to add to the already highly trained staff of instructors.” I am glad to be here and am excited about the future of IAMA” said Sensei Davenport.

TOURNAMENT NEWS………….
Gilberto Alejo participated in the IMAC tournament held this last weekend at the Orleans Casino.
There were a large number of competitors and Gilberto dominated all his opponents thru the
sparing competition where he placed second and he also did well in the kata portion comng in third.
Hanshi Dan Sawyer was there to support his efforts along with Sensei Davenport.
Gilberto is a powerfull competitor and a fine example to us all. He maintains proper attitude and
always gives his best. He has established himself as a fine example for the rest of the students in the
Dojo to look up to. Congratulations Gilberto!

Keep your summer safe and don’t forget to practice in and out of the Dojo.
You can always stretch out and do katas any where. Our entire staff and senior
ranking belts are looking forward to helping you to become the best you can be.

Sensei Vladimir is still recovering from a bone and ligament repair surgery.
He said he is about 70 percent toward a full recovery.
